Story Behind The Kolkata Bites
Kolkata Bites started with two things—food and us. We’re Joydeep and Silvia, both born and raised in Kolkata—a city globally recognized for its rich street food culture and often featured among the top food destinations in the world. From street-side phuchka stalls to late-night food runs, our story has always been connected through food. Back in Kolkata, we were both active food bloggers, working with 300+ food brands and collaborating with platforms like Meta. Life moved forward, and we came to Canada for studies—starting in Toronto and eventually moving to Calgary. That’s when reality hit. The authentic Kolkata taste was missing. We didn’t just miss the food. We missed the flavor, the spice, the chaos, the nostalgia. So we decided to create it ourselves. What started as small gatherings turned into Kolkata Bites. Today, we’re on a mission to bring real Kolkata street food to Calgary and across Alberta.

prepared in a clean, controlled environment, using fresh ingredients and proper handling standards.
Since we operate on a pre-order model, we avoid bulk storage and focus on making everything
fresh, which helps maintain both quality and safety. Additionally, we bring hands-on experience
from the food industry, with over 2 years of work experience, and hold Food Handler certifications,
ensuring proper food safety standards are followed.
